Of course when the girls go to bed easy and early, the boy stays up for three hours.
Of course when he sleeps all night, the girls are up way earlier than usual.
Of course the mama thinks she needs more sleep.
Of course she can still choose the kind of day she wants.
Of course she still has to feed the kids, keep them safe, entertain them, discipline them, clean, cook and wash.
But she can choose to do it all happily, willingly, servingly … or not.
I hope she chooses to smile and thank God for messy kids, dirty dishes (thanks Grandma) and repetitive tasks knowing that serving her family is NOT an unimportant venture.
That’s what I want.
What will you choose?
(This is being counted as a gift today at Tuesdays Unwrapped at Chatting at the Sky.)

Ack. I am terrible at choosing joy. Thanks for the reminder!
Thank you for reminding me that joy is a choice. It’s so true…
xoxoxoxo
Like you, I want to choose joy, but it’s an uphill battle (one I’ll no doubt be glad I fought)! Thanks for the reminder!
a mother’s work is never done, is it. someone said a few months back, “we finish unfinished.” and i thought how funny it is that we’re always in the middle of trying to finish something. but that choosing joy, like you are, in the midst of the chaos; in the midst of the sleep deprivation; in the midst of the dirty house; is where true joy is. thanks for your post.
Wow, thanks for the reminder! I love the idea that we can still choose the kind of day we want.
I think I’m going to choose joy today. No matter how many times the cats want to go in and out. No matter how many times the little dog barks and antagonizes the big dog. No matter that it’s getting ready to pour down rain and I need to run some errands.
It is a choice and today, I’m choosing joy. Thank you!
Very sweet post and so true, how lovely it is to choose joy!
