Ok, so this technically isn’t an ornament – except in the sense that it is decorating the tree – but I couldn’t not include it in my favorites! The girls and I made this chain last year over the course of several days, or weeks, by adding links with words written (or colored) on each [...]

A mystery box
Posted in church, family, little things on December 8, 2009 | 4 Comments »
This red, velvet box had been sitting mysteriously on our mantel until today. The girls asked multiple times if we could take it down and open it. And what was in it. The best question came from Kate, “Mama, have I ever seen what’s in it before?” I laughed and told her yes.
We opened it [...]

Decorating for Christmas is something I’ve been looking forward to for a couple months already – since one of my favorite local shops did their big Christmas opening in October! I finally got “a round tuit” today.
This is just the beginning, of course, because I don’t get more than 3 interrupted minutes to [...]
The first Halloween

Ok, so it wasn’t my first Halloween, or even my first one with kids.

We got an early Christmas present this month. Made by my dad to fit perfectly by our kitchen table. I could not be more excited! He had some great help carrying it inside and then the kids explored it in the entry way.
They seem to like it pretty well. The girls sit on it to eat [...]

I took this picture early this morning as these two sat quietly together and played … until I interrupted to take a picture.
My sweet, bouncing baby boy is walking! Here he is trying it out yesterday at the park.
Then Kate started dancing.
And Megan started sliding … and collecting static for her hair!
I hope you get [...]
The view from four and half!

Kate is four and a half. I love the way her mind works. Here’s a glimpse:
This is what I saw after she helped by putting the chicken nuggets and tater tots on the cookie sheet! I laughed out loud and tried not to tip them over as I put the pan in the oven!
And then.
This [...]
A day in the park
Posted in family, kids, little things, outside, play on October 5, 2009 | 3 Comments »
We haven’t played in the park much recently. Sometimes it just seems like too much work to get the kids ready and out the door.
But it’s always worth it once we get there! (I’m linking this to Tuesdays Unwrapped at Chatting at the Sky because I’m learning to take time to enjoy the little things.) [...]
